'Brown Bag Lunch Series'
In
May 2006, Christensen Irrigation (S) Pte Ltd launched it's 'Brown Bag
Lunch Series' aimed to serve as an irrigation education awareness
programme for Landscape Architects.
It
consists of a lunch talk (with Lunch provided by Christensen
Irrigation) focusing on irrigation componentry, elements of design,
installation, and maintenance. The 1 1/2 hour talk includes a question
& answer session that covers any concern or queries related to
irrigation including soil-plant-water relationships,
evapo-transpiration rates, suitable emitter types & others.

LIAS AWARD
The
Landscape Industry Association ( Singapore ) held its inaugural LIAS
Awards at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel on 5th January 2006. Gracing the
event was the Minister of State for National Development, Mr. Heng Chee
How, NParks CEO (Designate), Mr. Ng Lang & other distinguished
guests including MND officials, NParks Senior Management, Landscape
Architects, Landscape Industry Contractors, Nursery Owners &
Retailers.
Highlight of the event
was the Presentation of Awards to several outstanding contractors,
nurseries & retailers of which Christensen Irrigation system is
proud to be associated with.
In
particular, Christensen Irrigation is pleased to have supplied &
installed Automatic Irrigation System for the Singapore Management
University of which Tropical Environment won the First Prize in the
Implementation (Commercial, Industrial, Recreational and Institutional)
category. As a member of LIAS and a committed player to the industry,
Christensen Irrigation will continue to contribute actively to the
beautification & advancement of the landscape industry in Singapore
& the region.
OCC GOLF COURSE IRRIGATION
Christensen Irrigation (S) Pte Ltd
has been awarded the Irrigation Nominated Sub-Contract for the Proposed
Golf Course Upgrading At The Orchid Country Club, Singapore.
After
intense rounds of discussions, our company successfully tendered for
the irrigation works which includes a New VFDS Pump Station, more than
2352 Sprinkler Heads, a completely new Distribution Pipe Network and a
New Central Control System complete with Weather Station.
Irrigation
Works will likely start at the beginning of the New Year and extend
until 1st Quarter 2008 according to the proposed construction schedule.
This
project further adds to our long list of Golf Course projects that
Christensen Irrigation Group of companies has carried out in this
region.
RAINBIRD DISCONTINUED THE
R-50 ROTOR PRODUCT LINE We would like to inform that Rain Bird has decided to discontinue the R-50 rotor product line by the end of December 2005.
The recommended replacements for the R-50 rotors are the FC/PC versions of the 5000/5000PLUS or the 5500 Series rotors.
However, spare parts will continues to be available to support the existings R-50s currently in the field.
RAINBIRD (TURF/COMMERCIAL) CENTRAL CONTROL DISTRIBUTOR TRAINING
Rainbird (Turf/Commercial) held a Central Control Distributor Training in Bangkok , Thailand from 13th to 16th July 2005.
The
Distributor Training was attended by various distributors throughout
the region including participants from Singapore , Hong Kong , Malaysia
, Vietnam , Cambodia , Myanmar , Philippine & Thailand.
Christensen
Irrigation was proud to represent both Singapore & Hong Kong as we
have several major irrigation projects including Vivocity (in Singapore
) & Disneyland (in Hong Kong ).
The
Central Control Training focused mainly on the latest generation of
Central Controllers including Maxicom 2 (Version 3) & Site Control.
It was conducted by Mr. Brian Rie who flew in from the U.S. to lecture
on the subject.
Apart from Mr.
Rie, the other key trainers at the event included Mr. John Atkinson,
Mr. Dominic Madelin, Mr. David Paterson, Mr. David Longstaff, Mr. Tony
Whelan & Mr. Mark Philpot, all from Rainbird who gave various
presentations on Decoder Systems, Products Updates, Golf Central
Control Systems, RQOAT & Marketing Initiatives.
Once again, we thank Rainbird for their support & look forward to the next training session next year.
Training Cum Demo Session
Christensen
Irrigation together with Leemco & Paige organized Training cum Demo
session at Orchid Country Club ( Singapore ) at the Octagon Room on 6th
June 2005.
Mr. David Chua ,
Director of Christensen Irrigation addressed the more than 30
participants from the various local golf courses including Tanah Merah
Country Club, National Service Resort & Country Club, Seletar
Country Club, Warren Golf & Country Club, Raffles Country Club,
Kranji Sanctuary Golf & Country Club, Laguna National Golf &
Country Club, etc.
The session
then followed on with presentations by Mr. Nunzio J Di christopher, Jr,
Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Leemco Inc which gave an
introduction on Joint Restraints and Restraint Fittings. These fittings
allowed the user to undertake a mainline joint without the need for a
thrust block.
Thereafter, Mr. Joe
Di Rienzo, Senior Accounts Manager – Irrigation & Landscape
Operations, Paige Irrigation explained the different product lines for
irrigation systems including Lightning Surge Protections Systems, Wire
Joiners and Cable Types. There was also a hands-on opportunity on the
proper method of installing splice kits for all participants.
After
the session, everyone was treated to sumptuous lunches that allowed all
participants to network and get to know one another.
We,
at Christensen Irrigation, endeavor to constantly upgrade the knowledge
base of our industry. So do look out for more of such Training cum Demo
days in the near future.
